Why Waste Not, Want Not?

I had the privilege of serving as the Creative Associate for Connolly NS's Creative Schools Programme from September 2022 to June 2024. Below is a video and gallery showcasing the creative processes we engaged in.

Six Elements of the Creative Schools Programme

  1. Facilitating Environmental Needs and Interests
Using the Lundy Model, we worked to identify the environmental needs and interests of the children and the school.
  2. Experiential Learning Through STEAM
I facilitated experiential learning sessions based on my STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Through engaging activities using ice, plant life, wind, and sunlight, children had fun while creatively exploring these concepts.
  3. Group Formation and Goal Setting
Children collaborated in groups to set environmental goals based on their prior learning.
  4. Artistic Support and Collaboration
As the artist, I supported the realization of these goals by working closely with the teacher, Principal Sean O'Neil, fostering a collaborative environment.
  5. Creation of Environmental Actions and Art
The children developed environmental initiatives and created artworks to reflect their learning and goals.
  6. Public Sharing
The children's environmental actions and artistic creations were shared in the public realm, showcasing their efforts and creativity.
